Went to Delaware. Stayed all night at The American.

Took breakfast at the Plunket House. 10 o'clock. Started for Camp Chase. Arrived there at sundown.

Went into H. G. Henderson's mess.

Examined, and passed.

Mustered in U. S. Army.
Thursday, August 21
Left Camp Chase for Dixie, arrived in Covington where we stayed all night.
Had a grand supper at Armory gotten up by ladies of Covington.
Friday, August 22
Left Covington. Stopped at Robinson's Bridge, which we are to guard.
Saturday, August 23
Guarding bridge. Ditto for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Saturday, August 30
Eighteen thousand of Morgan's men reported to be in the eastern part of Kentucky.
Sunday, August 31
Guarding bridge. Ditto for Monday.
Tuesday, September 2
Retreated from Cynthiana. Guarding Bridge.
Wednesday, September 3
Stayed all night at Falmouth.
Thursday, September 4
Went back to guarding bridge. 5 o'clock. Retreated about 52 miles to a station on R R where stayed all night.
Friday, September 5
Afternoon. Went to Falmouth, put up our tents. 99th came across the
river and encamped in our field.
Saturday, September 6
Pulled up our tents and went to a high hill two miles distant. 9 o'clock, drawn up in line of battle. No enemy came. Slept on our arms till morn.
