Of the men who died in prison, 83 were captured on October 20, 1863, 45 on November 15th, 1863 and 10 on November 14th, 1863.

The 45th OVI suffered more deaths in Confederate prisoner of war camps than any of Ohio's 315 Civil War units, of all branches of the service.
