Morning very pleasant. Spent most of forenoon building dam across a run for the purpose of making a place to bathe. Go bathing. Saddle our horses. They remain so all night.
Thursday, July 2
Unsaddle horses. Nothing of importance happens.
Friday, July 3
Go on scout in search of a detained wagon train. Found it near ten miles from camp. Had been attacked by 70 rebels but were repulsed by train guards numbering 25 or 30. 5 pris reb taken. Our men have skir near Columbia.
Saturday, July 4
Horses have been saddled all night. Orders to unsaddle. Citizens of vicinity make a free dinner for soldiers here. All poor horses sent to camp. Start in pursuit of Morgan. March till four o'clock.
Sunday, July 5
Sleep till five o'clock 1/2 AM. Push on in direction of Liberty. Take Lebanon road. Travel till after dark. Go in camp. Rebels reported at Bradfordsville marching this way 1200 strong. Hope this so. Perhaps will see the bullificent yet.
Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7
Start towards Brad.fd.v. morning; quite rainy. Pass there. Get to Lebanon near 3 P.M. Yesterday 300 of our men fought all of Morgan's force for six hours here, were captured and shamefully treated. Go 7 miles beyond Springfield. Camp one A.M. Start again. Pass Bardtown 7 A.M. Camp near Shepherdsville. Co. G & K advance guards today. Capture several prisoners.
Wednesday, July 8
Start toward Elizabethtown. Change direction. Go through Garrettsville. Camp one mile beyond town. Rebs reported to be crossing Ohio river into Indiana. Lot of citizen prisoners taken at Garrettsville.
Thursday, July 9
Resume march. Feed and get breakfast. Get to Brandenburg 11 A.M. Last of rebs only ten minutes ahead of our advance guard. Ferry guarded by six gun boats. Get over a little after dark. Camp.
Friday July 10
Rebs reported ten miles ahead and we are after them again. Pass through Corydon. Enthusiastic cheering by citizens. Joined by a lot of squirrel hunters of lndiana. Travel till after dark. Camped five miles from Salem.
Saturday, July 11
Rebels reported to have travelled all night. We follow. Pass through Salem, Canton, New Philadelphia, Vienna & Lexington. Camped near the latter.
Sunday, July 12
Start again. Feed horses and breakfast at Parris, marching in quick time, pass through Dupont & Recksville. Camp near Versailes.
Friday, July 13
Daylight - off again: Feed horses and breakfast at Versailes. Enemy 1/2 day before us. Feed at Wiseburgh. Cross the White river. Camp on the line, horses in Ohio and we sleep in Indiana.
Tuesday, July 14
On road. again in direction of Hamilton, Butler Co. My horse nearly tired out and cannot keep up with column. Column halts and feeds. Forward again. Pick up a rebel horse which proves to be good. Camp at Mt. Repose. Williamsburg. Here Morg burned a bridge. Camp at Sardina. Get supper here and stay over night.

After Johnny again. Country very fine. Pass through Batavia,
